Ear Nose Throat

Tonsil and Adenoid Surgery

Adenoid enlargement (adenoid hypertrophy), usually seen in children; It is the lymphoid tissue located at the junction of the nasal cavity and the oral cavity becoming larger than normal.
As a result of this growth, the airway narrows and air passage becomes difficult.

What is Adenoid Enlargement?

As a result of the narrowing of the airway and difficulty in air passage, symptoms such as sleeping with the mouth open, drooling during sleep, snoring, stopping breathing during sleep (sleep apnea), restless sleep, constantly moving during sleep, and urinary incontinence during sleep are observed.
Children with adenoid enlargement may experience frequent upper respiratory tract infections. Similarly, adenoids may enlarge in children who are frequently ill. These children have an endless postnasal drip. When postnasal drip that does not improve with treatment is observed, an allergic condition along with adenoid enlargement should be investigated.
Adenoids that cannot be controlled with medical treatment can be removed with a minor operation and the patient can be discharged on the same day.

What is Tonsil Surgery?

The tonsils are oval-shaped organs located on both sides just behind the throat. With the white blood cells in their structure, they are an important part of body immunity, especially in children; However, its function decreases with adolescence.
For this reason, tonsillitis is more likely to occur, especially in children. Inflammation of the tonsils can lead to several other problems such as throat swelling, sore throat, and fever. If these complaints occur frequently, my tonsils may need to be removed with tonsillectomy. For this purpose, the tonsils can be completely removed or reduced in size without bleeding or pain by using state-of-the-art devices such as thermal welding and coblator. Tonsillectomy can be performed in adults in a similar manner, although less frequently.

Nasal Congestion & Rhinoplasty Surgery

Various problems in the nasal structure cause chronic nasal congestion. Curvatures in my nasal bones, swelling of the nasal flesh, and masses that should not be inside the nose are anatomical reasons.
Environment and habits such as air pollution, smoking and even breathing poor quality indoor air also cause chronic nasal congestion.
Nasal congestion causes poor sleep quality, headaches, and dulling of the sense of taste and smell. Patients who cannot breathe easily through their nose are forced to breathe through their mouth, which causes respiratory tract infections to occur more frequently.
Nasal Congestion Operation
After a detailed endoscopic ear, nose and throat examination determines exactly what the problem is, the operation is planned, the crooked bone is corrected and taken to the midline, the growths on the nasal flesh are burned and reduced using radiofrequency. The patient is discharged with a daily procedure without bruising etc.

Snoring and Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder that causes repeated pauses in breathing during sleep. These pauses are often caused by airway obstruction and can cause oxygen levels to drop during sleep.
How do snoring and sleep apnea affect our health?
Snoring and sleep apnea can have many negative effects on our health. Snoring can reduce sleep quality and leave you feeling unrested. This can affect our work or school performance during the day. Snoring can also affect the sleep quality of family members, reducing their sleep quality and causing them to feel tired during the day, which can also affect our relationships. Sleep apnea is a more serious health problem.
Because of sleep apnea, paused breathing, and low oxygen levels, it can increase the risk of heart disease, hypertension, stroke, diabetes, obesity, and even premature death. Sleep apnea can also cause excessive fatigue during the day, lack of attention, memory problems, mood swings, sexual dysfunction, and work or traffic accidents.
It is very important to evaluate nasal congestion in patients with sleep apnea and snoring, as well as drooping uvula and palate, short neck, and receding chin. Once these are identified, it is necessary to perform the necessary surgeries.

SinusitisSurgery

Sinusitis, one of the frequently seen problems in the upper respiratory tract; It significantly reduces people's quality of daily life.
Due to the problem of sinusitis, which is defined as inflammation of the sinuses, many patients resort to sinus surgery for treatment.
Surgical Method in Sinusitis Treatment
Nowadays, endoscopic sinus surgery method is frequently used in sinusitis surgery. Treatment planning and targeted process in sinusitis surgery are as follows;
Treatment of congenital or acquired anatomical disorders in the sinuses, Elimination of problems that cause blockage in the sinus ventilation and discharge channels, Ensuring air in and out of the sinuses by widening the channels connecting the sinuses to the nose, Preventing allergy problems (allergic rhinitis)

Eardrum Surgery

Repair of the eardrum may vary depending on the size and cause of the tear. If the eardrum hole is small, the hole can repair and close itself. In this case, there is no need for any treatment.
In cases where the eardrum hole cannot close on its own, eardrum surgery is used. Artificial membrane is not used in these surgeries, a patch is made by removing the membrane from the person's own body and over the muscle behind the ear, or by making a membrane from the cartilage tissue in front of the external auditory canal. The method I most frequently prefer is the method in which the cartilage and membrane in front of the external ear canal are used in combination, as it does not leave a scar, has the highest chance of retention, and is durable.
The most important success criterion for eardrum ruptures is the absence of discharge from the eardrum before the operation. Cases that are dry, have no discharge, and show conductive loss as a result of hearing tests constitute the candidate patient group for eardrum repair. In some patients, if conduction type loss is excessive, disconnection, calcification and melting may occur in the ossicular system of the middle ear. The diagnosis of this can only be made by seeing it under a microscope during the operation. While the membrane is being repaired, the ossicles in the middle ear can also be intervened in the same session.

Vertigo

Vertigo is a feeling that makes you feel like you or what you see is spinning. Nausea, vomiting and loss of balance may often accompany this condition.
Vertigo
Although there may be neurological and cardiological problems underlying the symptom of vertigo, which is one of the popular disorders of our age, the ones that occur due to ear, nose and throat diseases constitute a much larger portion of it.
Vertigo, which is triggered especially by stressful living conditions, excessive sports, alcohol and coffee consumption, can be treated by a detailed ENT examination and an ENT physician specialized in this field

Voice Diseases

The symptom of hoarseness is something that everyone experiences at some point in their lives.
Hoarseness, which is a common condition especially in cases such as cold and flu, can be important especially if it lasts more than 3 weeks
In such cases, medical or surgical treatment planning can be made by evaluating the presence of nodules, polyps, edema, etc. in the vocal cords, which are examined in detail by endoscopic examination.
Reflux, which develops due to stomach problems, can also be an important cause of hoarseness, and hoarseness is common in some professional groups that have to strain their voices excessively

Allergy

Allergy
In case of allergy, which is one of the diseases of our age that is common in children as well as adults, frequent urticaria attacks are observed along with symptoms such as nasal congestion, sneezing, itching, weakness and fatigue due to swelling of the nasal concha.
With the prick tests, it is possible to determine what the person is allergic to and to ensure that the person stays away from the allergen and to make personalized treatment plans. In this way, while the frequency of the person going to bed is reduced, the quality of life is also increased and the loss of labor can be taken under control
